The Creative Footprint is a nonprofit urban initiative aimed at measuring, indexing and advocating for creative spaces. 

By combining in-depth data with expert local insight, we will provide scenes with the necessary tools to represent themselves and fight for improved operating conditions. This includes workshops, legislative counseling, editorial content, local press outreach, visualized data, and access to a global network of creative advocates.

The first round of the Creative Footprint focuses solely on music scenes, and we are reaching out to key players in local music scenes around the world to start building our network, and establishing which cities need our support.

Methodology

Alongside professors from Harvard University and some of the leading minds in creative urban planning, we have developed data-driven system for determining the Creative Footprint of a city’s music scene.

By enlisting the help of local experts, we gather 15 data points per creative space and we crunch this data in an algorithm that produces a score out of ten.

We determined that the data be in three distinct categories: space, content and conditions.

During this process we will also evaluate if there are public and private sponsors that can be engaged, in order to reduce the amount of the crowdfunding.
